NOKIA & APPLE settle patent dispute and sign new licensing deal 2017

Nokia and Apple have ended their patent fight and are now talking about expanding their business relationship.Nokia filed lawsuits with regional courts in Dusseldorf, Mannheim and Munich in Germany and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming 32 patent infringements on technology including displays, display, user interface, software, antenna, chipsets, and video coding.


As part of the agreement, Apple will, once again, carry Nokia's digital health products (formerly under the Withings brand) in its retail and online stores after pulling them from shelves in December. Nokia will provide Apple with "certain network infrastructure product and services" and the companies' top executives plan to meet regularly. Apple and Nokia said they're also planning to explore "future collaboration in digital health initiatives."

Under the agreement, Nokia will provide Apple with certain network infrastructure products and services while Apple will resume selling Nokia digital health products in its online and retail stores, with the two firms looking to collaborate on future digital-health initiatives.Apple would "resume carrying Nokia digital health products (formerly under the Withings brand) in Apple retail and online stores, and Apple and Nokia are exploring future collaboration in digital health initiatives," it continued.The two sides did not disclose the financial details of the deal.But Nokia would receive "additional revenues during the term of the agreement," the Finnish group said.
